How to Eat a Sea Star
Here is an 8-step primer as demonstrated early one morning by a very determined Glaucous-Winged Gull.
1) Hunt down and snatch the mother lode of slow-moving prey
2) Move to higher ground
3) Scarf down as much as physically possible
4) Rest with long fang-like projections for about 10 minutes
5) Suck in really really hard
6) Look like you’re eating a handful of kielbasa sausages at the same time
7) Attempt a final swallow
8) Feel wonky for a while but not too long because there’s a full day of foraging ahead
